Ferris Wheel.

Your seatbelt is fastened, you're in your compartment

The ride lurches to a start carrying you along

Higher and higher as if you're a kite

The pier overlooks the ocean, blue as a

Cloudless sky

You're getting higher and higher, anxiously awaiting the view

Then you're at the top,

Everything is laid out, like a map, before your eyes

You see everyone roaming the boardwalk, tiny as ants

Picking up on faint screams from the roller coaster

Peacefulness slowly engulfs you

Then, you slowly start to leave this happy place

You start to go lower and lower, leaving your serenity behind

Your ants become bigger, the screams get louder

The compartment door is opened, greeting you with the next riders

  1. I really like your poem. I love how you used different adjectives to describe what you see and hear (and other senses that are in use) while you're on a ferris wheel.
