Macbeth Focus

Something that I really payed attention to as we read Macbeth, was the use of motifs to signify important things. The motif that stood out to me the most was the one about hands. That really stood out to me, because the actions that Macbeth committed all occurred with the use of his hands. For instance, murder, he stabbed someone, using his hands. The people crowned him king after the death of Duncan, using their hands. Lady Macbeth couldn't get the blood off of her hands. There were many things that happened using people's hands and their actions really effected the story.

I think that we should focus on this motif, because it's such a major one in my opinion. If Macbeth didn't have any hands, he probably wouldn't have turned out to be such a bad person. So from this motif, I think it's fair to say that you control your actions. No matter what the situation is, you have control over the actions that you perform. As for Macbeth, I think he should've thought out some of those action a bit more, but in the end, he didn't and, sadly, he was killed.

Macbeth Quote.

“I fear
Thou play’dst most foully for it.”

I chose this quote, because it was one of the first, of many, flaws in Macbeth's plan. Banquo is the one speaking this quote, and since he was with Macbeth when the witches gave them their prophecies, he knows that Macbeth will be become king one day. So, of course he becomes suspicious when Duncan dies, and Macbeth is next in line for the throne. Then, all because of this simple line, he dies. Macbeth must've wanted the throne really badly, considering he proceeded to kill his best friend. Well, then Banquo dies, because Macbeth doesn't want him going around telling on him, and it's just not a good thing in my opinion.

Personally, in the beginning of the book I don't think the witches should have told them their prophecies, because if you were told you'd be king one day, you wouldn't wait around for fate to make it happen, you'd be tempted to go out and make it happen yourself. So ultimately, Macbeth has been going through with these terrible deeds for the simple fact that he wants the throne, which he thinks he rightly deserves.
